Boydell’s Annual Picnic in the Vines Returns this October

Think big blue skies, rows of vines, friends, fabulous food, wine and tunes, pretty dresses, wide brimmed hats and plentiful smiles. The scene is set for the Boydell’s Annual Picnic in the Vines, the setting for the 2022 season premiere teaser for Farmer Wants A Wife.

Already the Boydell’s Annual Picnic Day is one of the hottest tickets in the Hunter Valley calendar, made even more sought after now it doubles as a picnic on the set of a soon to be released real life love story, or perhaps stories if all goes to Channels 7’s plans. So save the date now. Well, dates that is, as this stylish picnic is set to run over two days, Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 October 2022.

Boydell’s vineyard is thought to be the site of one of the very first grape plantings in New South Wales on a gorgeous property in East Gresford, a pretty corner of the Hunter Valley. Let us transport you there for the day, take the especially chartered Mudgee Express train, or sit back and enjoy the luxury coach transfers, or since parking is plentiful you could nominate your own designated driver.

The day kicks off with slow tunes and a glass of bubbles when gates open at 11am, easing into the swing of things by midday when the real picnic begins. With food, wine and entertainment available until 4.30pm, it really is a day to grab your gang, sit back and enjoy the country hospitality. You never know, if you’re lucky, you may even meet a farmer!

From as little as $20 per person you can join in on this exclusive picnic day, with the “GA” of tickets allowing you to choose your own adventure, buy your wine by the bottle or glass and decide if its freshly cooked pizza or a picnic hamper you’ll enjoy it with. Essentially your $20 ticket gives you a take home wine glass, access to a great day out, two great bands, plentiful food and wine options, and you organise the rest.

If you’re more of a creature of comfort, you can book for yourself and at least 7 of your nearest and dearest a private marquee which gives you your own private enclosure complete with shelter, chairs and tables, glass of bubbles on arrival and a cheese platter. Or why not treat yourself to a seat in the Members Long Lunch marquee by becoming a member of Boydell’s Wine Club (its worth the commitment of 6 bottles of superb award-winning wines twice a year just for the ticket!). The Members Long Lunch runs both days and includes a lavish 3 course lunch carefully curated by Boydell’s Restaurant chef Paula Rengger who draws on her Scottish heritage to create seriously special food. Enjoy a complimentary glass of Boydell’s bubbles on arrival and again chose your own adventure with a full range of Boydell’s wines and Tin Shed Beer available to purchase. Tickets to the Long Table Lunch are offered to members first so be quick, at $120 per person they won’t last.
