Supporting the Local Community

Giving back to the Newcastle and Hunter community that have supported us since 2015 is very important to us at Façon. As our business has grown, supporting causes our readers, sponsors, advertisers and clients care about has become part of what we do.

Since its inception, Façon has been a supporter of small, local businesses. Our brand affiliations are placed front and centre in Façon Magazine & at our events, we shoot their campaigns while employing local talent and creatives, and we showcase local designers at our events.

We believe supporting the local community is the key to our happiness and success here in Newcastle and beyond.

Got Your Back Sista Styling Night

We continue to partner with Got Your Back Sista for a Façon Styling Night, raising money for Village People Op Shop.

Editor-in-Chief of Façon Magazine, Lara Lupish teaches some of their community how to put together fabulous outfits from second hand fashions and helps Got Your Back Sista to help more women who have fled domestic violence.

Lifeline Christmas Campaign

We have proudly partnered with Lifeline for their Christmas campaign. Using the beautiful, natural scenery found in Newcastle, Façon created bright and lively imagery for use across the organisation’s social media pages and website. As a non-profit company providing crisis support services and relief, it was an honour for us to work with Lifeline and promote such an important cause.

Got Your Back Sista Silent Auction

At the Façon Summer Runway we managed to raise $2.3K for local Newcastle charity Got Your Back Sista who help women and children to thrive and live independently after escaping the trauma of domestic violence. We have an ongoing relationship with this fantastic charity and look forward to working together again in future.

The Grateful Boutique Magazine Feature

Featuring our favourite local brands in Façon Magazine is second nature to us. We especially love those brands that give something back to the community themselves. Consider how to shop with a conscience by visiting the Grateful Boutique, who donate one dollar from every fashion purchase up to $25 to the charity Got Your Back Sista. This editorial was featured in Façon Magazine Winter 2020.

Internship Program

Since Façon began back in 2015, we’ve offered internships to students from Hunter TAFE, Hunter Institute of Fashion and the Fashion Institute in Sydney, as well as local high schools. The first issue of Façon Magazine was made entirely by Creative Director & Editor in Chief Lara Lupish and a group of dedicated interns!

Sharing our industry knowledge and teaching the next generation of creatives is something we value highly. Our interns don’t do the office coffee run! They get stuck in with hands-on work and are given responsibilities and opportunities to impress us and grow their careers.

Interning at Façon gave me the skills I needed in order to excel in the working world. I learned a lot and gained confidence in my skills. I was able to secure a paid position at the company after my internship concluded, as well as explore other career options with the new industry knowledge I’d gained.” – Jack Bailey.

Façon is looking forward to launching our traineeship program with Hunter TAFE in 2021.
