Façon Favourites: The #MetGalaChallenge

by | May 6, 2020

This year’s Met Gala was scheduled for Monday May 4 th (the first Monday of May) yet,
due to the coronavirus, the event has been postponed to a later date.
The theme for the 2020 gala was ‘About Time: Fashion and Duration’ which museum
curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Andrew Bolton, describes as “reimagining the
fashion history that’s fragmented, discontinuous, and heterogeneous”.
In honour of this major event in the fashion calendar, Vogue and ‘Pose’ star, Billy Porter,
hosted the #MetGalaChallenge online where people recreated iconic outfits of Met Galas
passed. Floods of people took to Instagram and Twitter to share their creations which the
team at Façon couldn’t help but admire.

Here are some of Façon’s favourites:

Former Olympic figure skater, Adam Rippon, shared his take on Rihanna’s Guo Pei gown for
the 2015 Met Gala: ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’.

@catherinequirico recreated Lily Rose Depp’s archival 90’s Chanel dress from the
2019 Met Gala: “Camp: Notes on Fashion”.
