“Palindrome is a labour of love, it embodies the chic, feminine and modern and fuses these elements together with superior fit and luxe details,” says creative director, Marie Savvas.

Marie Savvas has spent two decades in the industry that she loves, playing an integral role in establishing Australia’s lingerie brands on the international stage through her role as Design Director for ‘Pleasure State Couture’ and Buyer/Design Director at ‘Bra N Things’.

This breadth of experience along with an intention of paralleling seasonal runway trends sets Palindrome apart from it’s competitors.

“I am always thinking about the end-use of the garment. Palindrome is about being contemporary and recognising what our customer wants to wear under her fashion,” Marie says.

“Palindrome garments are pieces that can be put together with any outfit, mixed and matched and always with the awareness of the form that will be created once the wearer is fully dressed for the day.”

Q: How and why did you get into the industry?

A: As a child; I fantasized about fashion all the time this was fueled by the glamourous Hollywood films I used to religiously watch on the Golden Years of Hollywood each Friday night. I was mesmerized by the sheen and glamour so I pursued the dream to work in fashion.

Q: What has been the biggest achievement/highlight of your career to date?

A: The biggest achievement is getting a start-up business off the ground and in turn getting Palindrome sold into stores, which validated the vision.

Q: What is your philosophy when it comes to fashion?

A: Don’t buy anything on sale that you wouldn’t buy at full price.

Q: How has the Internet changed the way you work as a designer?

A: The internet has forced speed to market and the need to produce new product lines more frequently in order to stimulate the consumers desire for newness. It means that a new brand like ours is global from its inception, which puts us on the same playing field as the major retailers, it’s very exciting!

Q: What is next for Marie Savvas and Palindrome Lingerie?

A: My aim is to continue growing brand awareness. We are strategically planning to increase distribution internationally concentrating on the US & UK markets in the immediate tense.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: My mood determines my personal style but mostly tailored feminine elements with a sprinkle of sexy glam.

Q: What is your favorite and least favorite part about being the founder and creative director of Palindrome Lingerie?

A: My favourite & least favourite aspects are one & the same. The buck stops with me, it’s empowering to be in a position to make all of the final decisions within the company but at the same time this responsibility can be a source of stress. You’re accountable for the wins & losses.

Q:How does Palindrome Lingerie differ from other lingerie brands in the Australian market?

A: At its core, the Palindrome ethos is to offer lingerie that is luxe at entry level designer pricing with attention to fit. We focus on fashion & creating pieces that look too good to hide, so sometimes we show them off because they’re made to be seen. Proportions are our strength, looking at lines that flatter the body and working that into the designs.

Q: What is a go-to fashion item that you can’t live without and why?

A: I can’t live without my Alexander Wang folded front culottes in black, I can style these up or down but they always look pulled together and fabulous. Well worth the investment.

Q: Do you have a favorite Australian fashion designer and why?

A: I am obsessed with Zimmermann. I would love to collaborate with them on a lingerie collection.

Q: What is your guilty pleasure?

A: Lounging on the sofa for cheeky late night online shopping escapades wearing Palindrome- because I can![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
