“It has been our long-time dream to make Newcastle Food Month the leading regional food event in the country, and it’s with much excitement that we announce this, our third Food Month, putting us well on our way to realising that dream.” comments Louise Maher, event organiser.

Highlighting the culinary and creative talent of Newcastle’s burgeoning food scene, its poised to be a plentiful program with an event for every kind of foodie. Food events with wine, beer or gin, music and lots of cheese! Hang with local winemakers at their favourite “Newy” food hangouts, dine in hatted restaurants or on degustation’s any way you like them – French, Italian, Thai, Seafood or even matched with cocktails.

All the big names in Newcastle’s dining scene such as the Roundhouse at Crystalbrook Kingsley, The Flotilla, Harrisons and The Signal Box, have designed their own unique events that will feature in the month-long program. Of course, there also lots of opportunities to eat out at our great casual cafes, leading pubs and clubs.

Our next big announcement will be a very special Food Month Ambassador, who will help us spread the good word about Newcastle’s exciting dining scene.

Plate Date returns, with over 40 dining establishments offering a brunch, lunch or dinner, including a beverage for only $25. A terrific opportunity to test run Newcastle’s wide range of eclectic cafes, restaurants and pubs, with the common denominator being incredible food and great value.

Event Organiser Louise Maher is excited about the program entries that the early call out has attracted already this year. “It’s exciting to see so many early entries into the program, and we are well ahead of where we have been in previous years in planning. There is already something for everyone who likes eating out, and on any budget.”

Organisers will soon confirm and announce sponsors who without their support, the events of this scale could not happen. The City of Newcastle have again provided significant funding through their Special Business Rates program.

“Over the past two years we have enticed thousands of Novocastrians to dine out in our fabulous restaurants, and this will continue. We are committed to expanding our marketing and promotion into the Central Coast and Sydney to draw an increasing number of overnight visitors. In years to come we will turn our attention to the likes of Melbourne and Brisbane, to take advantage of our connections through Newcastle airport.” adds event organiser Louise Maher
