Early in the year we see more fashion come out of the luxury design houses than any other time of year, beginning with the couture shows in Paris, then over to New York Fashion Week, then London and now back to Paris for the Fall/Winter Ready to Wear shows for 17/18.!

HEAD OVER HEELS

One of the biggest trends coming up for fall/winter is headwear, whether that be hats, headbands, scarves, or even tiara’s, they were an integral part of a number of collections, including Miu Miu, Dior, and Dolce & Gabbana, with headbands adorning the majority of the models in Chanel’s outer space extravaganza

BODY BAG

Another trend that has emerged onto the runway from what seems like the set of mid 90’s teen film ‘Clueless’ is matching accessories to the the rest of your outfit. Whether it is in the exact same hue or has elements of it in it’s design, the trend was seen throughout the Balmain, Versace, Dior and Giorgio Armani shows.

TOUCH OF VELVET

Want to keep those classic styles from the
spring/summer collections but find yourself out in
the cold? Velvet can not only provide that extra
touch of warmth for the colder months, it is also a soft texture that exudes luxury, a nice alternative for those who are opposed to wearing fur, this emerald creation from Dolce & Gabbana is the perfect example.!

MAKE THEM BLUSH

When it came to dresses
in the ready to wear collections, a
recurring colour was blush pink. The
hue was seen in the collections of
Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Elie Saab and Rochas, with most choosing to design the colour in soft textures of wool, silk and chiffon.!

SEASONAL SWITCH UP!

Keep a spring/summer vibe to your wardrobe by continuing light colours into the colder months. A number of collections at Paris fashion week incorporated whites and creams, like this piece from the Lanvin show worn by top model Jourdan Dunn.

WILD FOR THE WINTER

Seen throughout a number of collections was the return of animal print. Dolce & Gabbana featured an entire leopard print look, while Olivier Rousteing incorporated a number of animal patterns, from snakeskin to tiger print at Balmain. Warm up your winter wardrobe with these prints, layering different textures and patterns for a polished look with a hint of animalistic unpredictability.!

HIDE & SLEEK

Admiring the beautiful leather jackets for fall but fear you’ll look like the Sons of Anarchy if paired with the wrong outfit? Try something softer that also gives off a shine or shimmer, such as satin or silk, as shown here during the Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter ’17/18 show in Paris.!

LBD & NOT FREEZING

Still want to wear your classic little black dress but would rather not catch hypothermia? Follow the one and only Vera Wang & throw a coat over your shoulders, not only will it keep you warm, with the right coat you can really make a somewhat simple outfit have a big impact.!

THE JUMP TO SUIT

Featured in the collections of Dior, Armani, Hermés and Roberto Cavalli, a chic jumpsuit can be a glamorous alternative to a full length evening gown. Pair with a sheer wrap or satin satin shawl for some added elegance, or take note from Roberto Cavalli A/W 17 and go full Hollywood glamour with a cropped fur coat of the same colour as your jumpsuit.!
