Australian Fashion Makes Its Mark in Paris
Australian fashion has made an impressive impact on the international stage, with the Australian Fashion Council's (AFC) inaugural Australian Fashion Rooms wrapping up Paris Fashion Week SS27 with more than 240 buyer appointments and connections with some of the world's most influential luxury retailers.
Held over five days at Galerie Poggi in Paris' Marais district, the initiative connected twelve Australian designers with global retail heavyweights including Harrods, Selfridges, Lane Crawford, Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, marking an exciting step towards new international stockist relationships.
"Paris is a gateway to Europe and a meeting point for buyers from around the world. Seeing our designers in direct conversations with some of the world's leading retailers is an encouraging first step," said AFC Executive Chair Marianne Perkovic.
For ESSE Studios founder Charlotte Hicks, the experience highlighted the collective strength of Australian fashion.
"Showing alongside eleven other Australian designers made the experience even more meaningful; there was a genuine sense of support and appreciation for one another's work," she said.
Delivered through the AFC's Global Gateways program, with support from Austrade and Create NSW, the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen Australia's international fashion presence, with more than 500 buyer, media and industry connections facilitated across its global programs to date.
Australian Fashion Rooms is confirmed to return to Paris in 2027, following AFC Australian Fashion Week, with continued support from Create NSW.
With valuable global relationships forming and another Paris edition on the horizon, Australian fashion's international future is looking brighter than ever.
