Sculpted Silence: MATICEVSKI Returns to Australian Fashion Week

After more than a decade away from the official schedule,  yesterday MATICEVSKI  made its return to  Australian Fashion Week with a collection that reminded audiences exactly why the label remains one of Australia’s most respected fashion houses.

The Winter 2026 collection focused on the signatures that have long defined designer  Toni Maticevski’s work: sculptural silhouettes, technical precision and couture-level craftsmanship.

The collection explored a balance between softness and structure. Exaggerated shoulders, pointed hips and sculpted tailoring were softened by sheer organza, floating panels and shimmering fabrications that moved effortlessly through the space.

There was a restraint to the collection that made it feel particularly modern. Nothing felt overworked or excessive, with each silhouette carefully constructed to emphasise movement, texture and shape. Neutral tones and subtle hues allowed the craftsmanship to remain the focus, while experimental fabric contrasts brought a fresh energy to the runway.

For a designer known for creating some of Australia’s most recognisable red carpet moments, Winter 2026 felt less about spectacle and more about refinement. It was a confident return to the AFC schedule, and a reminder of the enduring influence  MATICEVSKI  continues to have on Australian fashion.
